Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Doc Scanner 2027, published by Peter’s Engineering, accesses, processes, stores and discloses information.
1. Scope and developer
This policy applies to the Doc Scanner 2027 Android app and this product website. Peter’s Engineering is the developer and privacy contact. The app does not create user accounts and does not operate a developer-controlled document cloud in this release.
2. Information processed on your device
The app processes scanned page images, imported images, document names, generated PDF files, recognized text, OCR layout data, signatures and app settings. These items are stored in app-private local storage. Android does not make that workspace generally available to other apps.
Documents are disclosed to another app only when you deliberately select Android’s Share action. Read access is temporary and limited to the file you selected.
3. Scanning and on-device recognition
The Google Play services ML Kit document scanner performs capture, edge detection, perspective correction and its scanner editing flow on device. The app itself does not request the Android camera permission; the Google Play services scanner controls camera access and returns only the pages you approve.
The bundled Latin-script text recognizer processes document content on device. Google states that ML Kit input images, text and recognition output are not sent to Google. ML Kit may, however, send application information, device information, feature events, performance metrics and error codes to Google for diagnostics, maintenance, usage measurement and abuse prevention. Those metrics are encrypted in transit.
4. Optional AI text recognition
AI recognition is optional and is not required to scan, edit, sign, save or share a document. If you select AI recognition, add your own OpenAI API key and confirm the upload prompt, the selected page images are sent directly from your device to the OpenAI Responses API to perform OCR.
The request uses store=false. OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models by default, but abuse-monitoring logs may retain customer content and related metadata for up to 30 days unless the API organization has approved retention controls. Image inputs are also checked for unlawful child sexual abuse material and may be retained for review when flagged. OpenAI processes the request under its own Privacy Policy and API terms.
Your API key is encrypted using Android Keystore, stored in the app’s no-backup area, never included in document files and removable from Settings. Peter’s Engineering does not receive the key or the AI OCR request.
5. Voluntary support and Stripe
If voluntary support is enabled in the distributed build and you choose to use it, the app opens a Stripe Payment Link in your browser and Stripe processes the transaction on its own hosted page. Stripe may collect payment method, billing, device, fraud-prevention and transaction information. The app contains no payment code and Peter’s Engineering never receives raw card numbers.
The app sends nothing to Stripe itself — no amount, document content, document identifiers or AI keys; everything you enter on the Stripe page is governed by Stripe’s privacy policy. Peter’s Engineering receives only the transaction records Stripe provides to the merchant for accounting, refunds and legal compliance.
6. Website information
This static website uses no advertising, analytics, tracking pixels or account system. It stores only your language choice in browser local storage. The web server records standard access logs, which can include IP address, request time, requested path, response status, referrer and browser user agent. Logs are used for security and operations and are rotated daily, with up to 14 rotations retained.
7. Data sharing and service providers
Information is disclosed only as necessary to provide a feature you request or operate the service:
- Google Play services / ML Kit: scanner delivery and diagnostic/usage metrics; document content remains on device.
- OpenAI: selected page images and OCR instructions only after optional AI confirmation.
- Stripe: payment and anti-fraud information only when you use the voluntary-support link in your browser.
- Apps selected by you: a document or HTML file through Android sharing.
- Infrastructure providers and authorities: only when required for hosting, security, legal compliance or protection of rights.
The app contains no advertising SDK and no behavioral analytics SDK.
8. Retention and deletion
Active documents remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app. Deleted documents remain in Recently Deleted for up to 30 days unless you permanently delete them earlier. API credentials remain until removed in Settings, app data is cleared, or the app is uninstalled.
The app has no account and Peter’s Engineering cannot remotely access or delete files held only on your device. Instructions are available on the Data Deletion page. Retention by OpenAI, Stripe and apps you share with is governed by their respective policies.
9. Security
The app uses Android app-private storage, Android Keystore for the optional API credential, HTTPS-only network connections, backup exclusions and narrowly scoped content URIs for sharing. No security method can guarantee absolute protection, particularly on rooted, compromised or unsupported devices.
10. Children
Doc Scanner 2027 is a general utility and is not directed to children under 13. The app does not knowingly create profiles of children. Users are responsible for having a lawful basis to process any personal information contained in documents they scan or send to an optional provider.
11. International processing and legal rights
Optional providers and website infrastructure may process information in countries other than yours. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing of information held by Peter’s Engineering. Most app data exists only on your device and is controlled directly through the app.
12. Changes and contact
Material changes will be published at this URL with a new effective date. Privacy inquiries can be sent to ceo@ptrs.ltd. Do not attach confidential document pages, passwords, card numbers or API keys to support email.
